Top 5 Places in Erie Pa to Have an Engagement Session

Top 5 Places in Erie Pa to Have an Engagement Session

Best Places in Erie, Pa For An Engagement Session

Let’s talk about the 5 Best Places for an Engagement Session in Erie, Pa. Remember when choosing a popular location to also consider when you’ll be there. Popular locations are spots you should visit during slower periods of the day. Lunch and dinner time when people are out and about means losing precious photo time as you wait for people to clear out.

Check out Why You NEED An Engagement Photoshoot for a list of the top reasons!

1 Lake Erie Shoreline

Living on Lake Erie, you can’t be surprised that this is the #1 place where to take engagement photos. Lake Erie Shoreline is more than 15 miles long in Erie County giving you a ton of sweet spots. Heading west into Lake City or East into North East gives you many rural beach and bluff areas. Staying closer to the heart of the city of Erie you have the East Avenue Pier and Bicentennial Tower. Urban sprawl can make a pretty nice backdrop for your lakefront photos. With so many options on Lake Erie it’s one of the most versatile options for an engagement session.

Now that you know you’re taking engagement pictures on Lake Erie, are you wondering what to wear? Check out: Engagement Session Outfit Ideas.

2 Presque Isle Park

If you’re wondering where to have your engagement session in Erie, Pa I’m sure Presque Isle has come to mind. With everything from stretching sandy beaches to shady walking trails, tandem bike rentals, and lighthouses this State Park is a photographer’s dream. At certain points of the park you can even see clearly across the bay to downtown Erie to catch the skyline behind you.

We’ve done several engagement sessions at Presque Isle. We suggest this location for late spring and early to mid-fall photo shoots because the location can be a little hot in the summer and a little dangerous in the winter.

Our Spring Engagement Guide can help you prepare.

Also check out our Fall Engagement Guide

3 Frontier Park

When our couples discuss their engagement session with us, Frontier Park usually comes up first. This large, sprawling park has many hidden gems. There is a pleasant winding creek running through the center surrounded by aging willow trees. The park is full of wide open rolling greenery and there’s even a playground to pretend you’re a kid again.

Frontier Park can be the ideal location for an engagement session, but you should consider the time of day you’re session will be. Avoid times that the park is the busiest and instead choose an early morning or sunset shoot time.

Our blog When to Take Engagement Photos has even more tips to help you decide when is the perfect time.

4 Covered Bridge in Waterford

South of Erie in Rural Waterford, Pa is an old covered bridge that’s no longer in use. It’s nestled over a bubbling creek with a dirt road leading up to it on either side. We’ve captured some of our favorite engagement pictures along this abandoned stretch of road. In fact, there are train tracks a short walk away that make an excellent spot to steal a kiss.

We’ve only had the pleasure of hitting this location one time for an engagement session so we’d be THRILLED if you picked it!

Do you feel like you’re not ready for engagement pictures? Our guide Tips on Getting Engagement Photo Ready should help.

5 Vineyards & Orchards

Many busy city residents don’t even consider the farmlands when choosing an engagement session location. But, Erie County is ripe (get it, ripe?…I’ll see myself out.) with Apple and Cherry Orchards, Grape Vineyards, and Corn Fields. Each of these farm types is in bloom at different times of year making them an excellent option for outdoor photos. Visit the cherries in the late spring. Check out the Corn Fields in the fall around harvest time. Finally, pay tribute to the Apple blossoms during the later summer.

Last season we had the pleasure of shooting at Arundel Winery for one couple’s engagement session and then their wedding ceremony later on. North East also boasts Burch Farms with both an apple orchard and grape vineyard. It’s best to ask permission from the business owner before scheduling your engagement session, however.

If you have any other questions about where to have your engagement session done you can reach out to us and ask! A professional wedding & engagement photographer is going to have answers to most of your questions to make planning your day less stressful. Remember, that it doesn’t matter where or when you take engagement photos. If you don’t click with your photographer, you won’t have as good an experience. Here’s a list of What to Ask Before Hiring a Wedding Photographer. If you’re still not sure who to go with an Erie Wedding Planner can really help with that.

Connect With Us!!

5 Amazing Ways to Include your Partner’s Interests in your Boudoir Pictures

5 Amazing Ways to Include your Partner’s Interests in your Boudoir Pictures

Amazing Way to Include your Partner in your Boudoir Pictures

Looking for a way to add a personal touch to your boudoir pictures? Showing off your love and appreciation for your partner doesn’t just have to be verbal, it can be done through creative and thoughtful photography. Whether it’s incorporating their hobbies, memories of special moments, or simply dressing up in their favorite color, there are many unique ways that boudoir pictures can be tailored to include the interests of your partner.

Boudoir Pictures

1. The Jock or Sports Fan

This is a popular one. If your man loves sports, bring some sports gear with you. Football fans can wear a favorite jersey or bring the old pig skin with you! Does he love baseball? What’s sexier than a little umpire outfit and a bat? Maybe he’s a hockey fan and you’ve got a few pucks and a hockey stick laying around. Peak his interest by dressing up like his favorite sport.

Find out 5 Mistakes to Avoid During Boudoir Photos

2. Incorporate his job or career in your boudoir pictures

If your guy loves his job, try to incorporate that in your boudoir pictures. If he’s in the military, think dog tags, uniform, etc. If he’s a doctor, try a nurse outfit or lab coat. If he’s a firefighter – borrow his helmet and boots. There are so many options here. Some careers are more difficult to incorporate creatively, but we can even make an office job work. You can totally rock the button down shirt, tie, and briefcase.

3. What does he love about you?

Think about the things he loves – his favorite part of your body, traits you have that he adores. Maybe he loves your sassiness or playful personality, or how you are shy, sweet, etc. We’ll want to feature these attributes in your session. Does he love it when you walk around in his clothes? Bring some along for an added personal touch. My man loves when I’m working on the business, so a pair of glasses, a cell phone..and a briefcase would get his motor going. 😉

4. How about a little cosplay?

You hear me right. Does your partner have a fantasy? Surprise him by dressing up for your boudoir pictures. If he’s a big Star Wars fan and always wanted you to wear a gold bikini like Princess Leia, now would be a good time to break out that costume for some sexy sci-fi photos. Or maybe he’s a huge comic book nerd. Think Captain Marvel or Wonder Woman. It’s all about having fun and feeling good!

5. Let’s think about those hobbies

What does he like to do for fun? Does he play guitar, read comic books, paint? Bring along items from his hobbies. Is he a country boy? Bring a cowboy hat and boots. Does he enjoy carpentry? Bring his construction hat and tool belt along. Can you just imagine wearing nothing but his guitar on your lap? I’m betting he’d love it.

In conclusion, boudoir pictures are meant to capture a special moment in time. They should not just be for you; including your partner in the photos can make them even more meaningful. If done right, it can be an incredibly intimate experience that both of you will remember and cherish forever. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your poses, props, and wardrobe choices. Take some risks – after all, it’s just for the two of you.

5 Best Tips on What to Wear for Boudoir Photos

5 Best Tips on What to Wear for Boudoir Photos

5 Best Tips on What to Wear for Boudoir Photos

If you are thinking about taking boudoir photos, you may be wondering what to wear. It’s important to feel confident and comfortable in the clothing you choose for your boudoir photos, so we are here to help! In this article, we share the best tips on what to wear for a successful boudoir photoshoot. From lingerie and accessories to makeup and hairstyles, these tips will help ensure that your boudoir photos turn out perfectly.

boudoir photos

1. Try It On Before Your Boudoir Photos

Wear what makes you feel sexy. Boudoir photos are all about bringing your sexy side, so if you put something on and you feel uncomfortable, move on to the next option. Consider it sort of like searching for the perfect wedding dress. When you put it on and can’t help but spin in front of the mirror or think, “Heck yes, I’m sexy!” then that is the piece you should wear on shoot day. Find out 5 Mistakes to Avoid During Boudoir Photos

2. Incorporate HIS likes into your Boudoir Photos

Consider what he likes, too. Maybe he loves you in the color red, or he still talks about that baby doll number you wore a couple years ago. If he’s into sports or a certain hobby, play into that, as well. One of my Boudoir Photo Sessions last spring dressed up in her fiancee’s fire gear! I was lucky enough to be present when she gave him the album on their wedding day. Va-Va-Voom……

3. Wear something that flatters your favorite features

Opt for lingerie that flatters your favorite parts. If you’ve got an impressive rack (yes, we’re going there), then choose something that really shows of that feature. Maybe you’re a fan of your own derriere and want to show him the goods, too. Choose a piece that accentuates whatever features you love most about yourself. On the other side, if you have features you don’t love, pick an outfit that hides them.

Wondering what other women are asking us about getting ready for Boudoir Photos? Read The 13 Most Frequently Asked Boudoir Questions

4. Don’t Forget About Your Feet

Footwear matters, too. It’s so easy to go into a less-than-classy vibe depending on your footwear. Our suggestion: keep it simple. Patterns, baubles, bells, whistles, and more than three inches of heel can all lean “too much.” Instead, opt for shoes that scream “sexy sophistication.” FYI: Heels can also do a lady good when it comes to posture and accentuating muscles in her legs.

Boudoir Photos
Boudoir Photoshoot

5. Avoid Patterns and loud colors

We strongly suggest wearing solid fabrics during your boudoir photos because the focus should be on you, not on the pattern on your clothing. Also, bright and vivid colors can be gorgeous as long as they accent your skin and the location that you’re shooting in. Colors like rich reds, greens, plums, or blues can add intensity to your session. Flirty colors like pink and other pastels can be charming and bring out your femininity. But avoid colors that are neon or make your skin look dull or pasty. Typically, blondes don’t look good in yellow but brunettes can pull it off.

In conclusion, boudoir photos are an opportunity to express yourself and feel confident in your own skin. With the right lingerie, clothing and accessories, you can look and feel your best while enjoying the experience. A well-selected wardrobe should be tailored to fit your body type, unique style, and comfort level. Be creative and keep it simple – let your personality shine through! Above all else, remember to have fun with it. Show off what makes you special in a way that makes you feel empowered!

5 Mistakes to Avoid at Your Boudoir Photo Shoot

5 Mistakes to Avoid for a Boudoir Photo Shoot

Are you getting ready for your boudoir photo shoot? Exciting times! It’s natural to feel a little nervous, especially if this is your first time. But fear not! We are here to guide you on what NOT to do at your boudoir session so that you can make the most of it and have an amazing experience. Read on for our top tips on making sure your boudoir photo shoot is nothing but positive and empowering.

boudoir photo shoot

1. Bad Tan Lines/Sunburn

If you have not been tanning recently, don’t tan just before your session. You can get sunburn or really bad tan lines, which are not flattering in photos. Also avoid spray tans at all cost, as they tend to photograph poorly.

2. Getting drunk at your Boudoir Photo Shoot

If you are nervous about your session, it’s OK to have a glass of wine to rest your nerves. That said, don’t get wasted before or during your session. This is one of the worst things you can do. Your eyes will be blood shot and droopy and it’s just a recipe for disaster.

3. Wearing the wrong sized clothing.

Choose lingerie that is just the right size for you. You don’t want loose lingerie that gives your body no shape or hides your beautiful curves. On the other hand, lingerie that is too tight can be unflattering during your boudoir photo shoot.

Not sure what to wear during your Boudoir Photo Shoot? Check out this guide before you go shopping: What to Wear for your Boudoir Pictures

4. Loud, Heavy Makeup

We strongly recommend getting a makeup artist for your boudoir photo shoot. You don’t want to slather the makeup on too thickly. It’s more about accentuating your natural features and making you feel – and look – stunning.

Boudoir Photography Session

5. Forgetting to shave or wax

Always remember to shave or wax any exposed area that needs to looks smooth and sexy. The ‘au naturel’ look is so ‘70s. Unless you’re going for that vibe, please remember this tip. On the other hand, razor bumps are another thing you want to avoid in your photos. Be careful down there!

In conclusion, boudoir sessions are a great way to feel empowered, confident and beautiful. Taking the time to prepare beforehand will ensure you have an amazing experience! Make sure to wear something comfortable, that you love and that makes you feel confident. Try to relax and be yourself; don’t worry about posing or getting it “right”. And most importantly, remember to enjoy the moment! So go ahead, pamper yourself with a boudoir session – you deserve it!

13 Top Questions about a Boudoir Photo Session

Booking a Boudoir Photo Session can sound intimidating. But, it doesn’t have to be. In fact, you may be wondering What is a Boudoir Photo Session anyway? (Notice the link? Go ahead and take a pause and check it out if you have questions.)

Boudoir Photo Session

1. I’m really nervous. Is that normal?

It is definitely normal to be nervous for your boudoir photo session, so don’t worry. Most of our clients are nervous until the session has gone on for a few minutes. After it starts, you’ll begin to loosen up. If you’re still nervous, try out these relaxation tips we’ve provided in another blog post: Click here.

2. How will I  pose for my boudoir photo session?

Don’t worry about posing for your boudoir photo session. We’ve totally got you covered in that department. We know all the tricks to create the most flattering angles for you, no matter what shape or size you are. Our photographers are all ladies too. We get it.

3. Does my Boudoir Photo Session include hair & makeup?

While our Boudoir Photo Session does not include hair & makeup, our team does have a full service Wedding Planner on staff. So, we are very happy to make referrals to you for close by, trustworthy hair & makeup artists. Or, we can talk about creating a package that includes this service on location.

4. Am I allowed to bring alcohol to my session?

As long as you’re over 21, that’s totally fine with us. We understand that sometimes having a drink can help you relax. However, try to keep the drinking to a minimum because you don’t want to go the other way! And if you do want a drink, let’s incorporate it into your boudoir session!

5. Do you provide the outfits for boudoir sessions?

We do not provide your wardrobe. A boudoir photo session outfit touches very intimate parts of you and we’re not sure you’d want to share with a stranger. Also, how exciting would it be to wear your special outfit while you present your boudoir photos to your partner? But, if you need some ideas you can check out our blog: insert blog link here.

6. I don’t want a bunch of prints. What can I order?

This is a very common concern and we totally understand. We recommend placing an order for a photo album. This is much more discreet and will keep all of your images in one place and not floating around. We have several sizes and cover options available.

7. What should I bring to my boudoir photo session?

For your boudoir photo session, we suggest two to three different outfits and any props you may want to incorporate. We also suggest a cover up to keep you warm in between scenery changes. Need help choosing props? Check out this blog article we’ve written on incorporating your partner’s interests by clicking here:

8. Can a friend come to my boudoir photo session?

Yes, you can bring a friend if you think it will help you relax. However, sometimes an extra set of eyes has the opposite effect, even if it is a friend. They are more than welcome to come, but if they are making you uncomfortable, they may have to wait outside. Comfort first for the best photos.

9. Will I have a male or female photographer?

For the comfort and safety of all of our clients and team, we only provide female photographers for our boudoir photo sessions. In fact, we currently only have 1 female photographer at the company offering sessions. Our other female photographers are focused elsewhere. That way you get the best experience because the photgrapher is comfortable with what they are shooting.

10. Do you edit my boudoir photo session?

Yes, we edit every boudoir photo session. Typically, we will smooth your skin, brighten your hair highlights and hide any blemishes that you feel insecure about. Our goal is to make you feel beautiful and empowered while staying true to life. So, a light touch up of your images is all you need.

11. Will a Boudoir Photo Session even be flattering?

Absolutely! Nobody is perfect and every woman is sexy. If you have any specific concerns, contact us and we can talk about it! In fact, we’ll have you fill in an online planning form before your session so you can let us know about any areas that concern you before we meet.

12. Do you do outdoor boudoir photo sessions?

We currently do not have our own outdoor location to do this, but if you have some private land, let us know and we’ll set something up. We do offer outdoor boudoir sessions, but only if they take place on your private property. It also has to be in a secluded area, so nobody can see us during the session. We do this to protect you and our company.

13. Who will see my images?

Because we value your privacy and want to keep you safe we never share your boudoir photo session images publicly without your permission. If you don’t want people to see your photos we will protect them. And if you do give us permission we go the extra step to ask if it’s okay to show your face. We won’t do that unless you’re okay with it. In fact, several of the images in this blog are from clients who asked us to keep their identity anonymous. We will protect you.

We hope this answered any questions you have about our Boudoir Photo Sessions. Please feel free to reach out to ask any other questions we may not have covered here. We’re more than happy to help.
